Young Cyber Knights Foundation · Bright Cyberhub
Terms of Service
Effective date: 29 September 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Young Cyber Knights Foundation (“YCKF”, “we”, “us” or “our”), a cybersecurity and digital-safety organisation based in Ghana. They govern your use of the Bright Cyberhub mobile application and its companion apps (Bright Report, Bright Locate and Bright Car Locate), the website at www.youngcyberknightsfoundation.org, and the related services, APIs and support channels (together, the “Services”).
By creating an account, ticking “I agree”, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Not a substitute for emergency services
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call Ghana's emergency numbers first: 112 (national emergency), 191 (Police), 192 (Fire) or 193 (Ambulance). Bright Cyberhub helps you report, share your location and reach support, but we cannot guarantee that a report, alert or location update will be received, seen or acted on within any time. Network coverage, device settings, battery, permissions and third-party services can all prevent delivery.
2. Who can use the Services
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these Terms for you and supervises your use.
- You must give accurate, current and complete information when you register (full name, email address and phone number) and keep it up to date.
- You may not use the Services if we have previously suspended or deactivated your account for breaching these Terms, unless we agree in writing.
- Staff, investigator, volunteer and administrator accounts are issued by YCKF only and are also subject to our internal policies and confidentiality obligations.
3. What the Services include
Features vary by app, plan and region, and may change over time. They include:
- Cybercrime and crime reporting with text, photos, video, voice notes, files and GPS details, a report ID and case tracking.
- Emergency (SOS) reports that send your details and location to YCKF responders, with directions to nearby police and fire stations.
- Current and live location sharing, including consent-based location monitoring between people who have agreed to it.
- Stolen phone protection for registering your own phones, reporting them stolen and receiving location updates.
- Vehicle monitoring and theft recovery (Bright Car Locate) for vehicles you own or are authorised to manage, including fleet accounts.
- Expert assistance and bookings with YCKF specialists, including OSINT and security-systems services.
- Learning and community: courses and certifications, news, events, resources, volunteering, membership and portfolios on the website.
- Premium plans and credits purchased through Paystack, Google Play or approved manual payment, and activation codes, coupons, promotions and referrals.
- Support by email, phone, WhatsApp, Telegram, contact forms and an automated AI chat assistant on the website.
4. Your account and security
- You are responsible for everything done through your account. Keep your password, one-time codes (OTPs) and two-factor backup codes secret. We will never ask for them by email, phone or chat.
- Tell us straight away at yckfadmin@youngcyberknightsfoundation.org if you think your account has been accessed without permission.
- Each person must have their own account. Do not sell, share, transfer or rent your account, and do not create accounts in someone else's name.
- We may ask you to verify your email address, phone number or identity before giving access to some features, before acting on a request, or when we suspect misuse.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Services, directly or through someone else, to:
- make false, misleading, prank or malicious reports or emergency alerts, or impersonate another person, a responder, the police or YCKF;
- track, monitor, stalk or locate any person, device or vehicle without that person's informed consent or without the legal right to do so;
- harass, threaten, defraud, extort, exploit or harm anyone, including children;
- upload content that is unlawful, sexually exploitative, hateful, violent, defamatory or that infringes someone else's rights, except evidence you honestly submit in a report;
- commit or help commit fraud, money laundering, identity theft, cybercrime or any other offence, including offences under Ghana's Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) and Electronic Transactions Act, 2008 (Act 772);
- abuse payments, coupons, activation codes, promotions or referral rewards, for example with fake accounts, chargebacks or self-referrals;
- probe, scan, attack, overload or bypass the security of the Services, or access data or accounts that are not yours;
- copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, resell or build a competing service from the Services, except where the law allows it; or
- use the Services in any way that breaks the law or these Terms.
We may investigate suspected misuse, remove content, restrict features, and suspend or deactivate accounts. Where we believe a crime has been committed or someone is at risk, we may report it and share relevant records with the police or other competent authorities, as explained in section 11 and our Privacy Policy.
6. Reports, evidence and your content
- Only submit information you believe to be true and that you have the right to share. Knowingly making a false report may be a criminal offence.
- You keep ownership of content you submit. You give YCKF a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, copy, analyse and share it as needed to operate the Services, handle your report or booking, and meet legal obligations. The licence continues for as long as we keep the content under our Privacy Policy.
- We decide how to prioritise and handle each report. Submitting a report does not create a lawyer-client, investigator-client or police relationship, and we cannot promise any outcome, recovery of money or property, or arrest.
- Reports and evidence may be passed to police, fire, emergency, regulatory or recovery teams when that is needed to act on them or when the law requires it.
7. Location sharing, monitoring and device protection
- Location features only work when you grant location permission and turn the feature on. You can stop sharing at any time in the app or in your device settings.
- You may only monitor another person's location with their clear consent, or as their parent or legal guardian where the law allows. You may only register devices and vehicles that you own or are authorised to manage.
- Location readings can be inaccurate or delayed. Do not rely on them alone for safety-critical decisions.
- Theft-recovery features help you and the authorities locate property. You must not try to recover property yourself in a way that puts anyone at risk.
8. Premium plans, bookings and payments
- Prices, plan features and billing periods are shown before you pay. Prices are in Ghana cedis (GH₵) or the currency shown at checkout and include any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
- Card and mobile-money payments are processed by Paystack, and in-app purchases on Android by Google Play. Their terms also apply. We do not receive or store your full card number or mobile-money PIN.
- Subscriptions bought through Google Play renew automatically until you cancel in Google Play. Other plans run for the period you buy and do not renew unless you pay again.
- Manual payments are activated once our team has confirmed them. Activation codes, coupons and promotional credits have no cash value, cannot be resold and may expire.
- Refunds: Google Play purchases follow Google Play's refund policy. For other purchases, contact us within 7 days if a paid feature was not delivered or you were charged in error; we will review each request fairly and as required by law. Bookings may be rescheduled or refunded as shown at the time of booking.
- We may suspend Premium access, or reverse credits and rewards, obtained through fraud, chargebacks or a breach of these Terms.
9. Our intellectual property
The Services, including the Bright Cyberhub name and logos, the YCKF name and logos, software, designs, course materials and text, belong to Young Cyber Knights Foundation and its founder, Bright Peter Kwaku Boateng, or to our licensors, and are protected by law. We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the apps and website for their intended purpose. Course materials are for your personal learning only and may not be shared or resold.
10. Third-party services
The Services rely on and link to services we do not control, such as Google Play, Google Maps, Paystack, WhatsApp, Telegram, email and SMS providers. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.
11. Suspension, account deletion and records we keep
- You can ask us to delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete account, on our account deletion page or by email.
- We may suspend or deactivate your account, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or to protect you, other users, the public or the Services.
- When an account is deleted or deactivated, it is set to Inactive with the reason recorded. You lose access straight away and your email address and phone number are released so they can be used again. We do not erase the account immediately. Your identity details, account activity (such as reports, emergency alerts, location history, devices and login records) and financial records are kept in restricted storage for the retention periods in our Privacy Policy, so that we can meet our legal obligations, prevent fraud and abuse, resolve disputes and respond to lawful requests from the police, courts and other competent authorities. They are deleted or anonymised when those periods end, unless a legal hold applies.
- Paid access that is unused when an account is deactivated for breach of these Terms is not refunded, except where the law requires.
- Sections 5, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 continue to apply after your account ends.
12. Disclaimers
We work hard to keep the Services safe and available, but they are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure at all times, that any report or alert will be delivered or acted on, or that any cybersecurity advice, course or tip will prevent every loss. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer-protection law that cannot be excluded.
13. Limitation of liability and indemnity
To the extent the law allows, YCKF, its founder, staff, volunteers and partners are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits, money or property, arising from your use of the Services, from third-party services, or from the acts of other users or criminals. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the Services in the 12 months before the claim, or GH₵ 500, whichever is higher. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be limited.
You agree to compensate YCKF for claims, losses and reasonable costs (including legal fees) caused by your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Services or your violation of someone else's rights.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any complaint informally. If we cannot resolve it within 30 days, either of us may refer the dispute to the courts of Ghana, which will have exclusive jurisdiction, unless the law of your country gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
15. Changes and general terms
- We may update these Terms when the Services or the law change. We will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using the Services after that, the new Terms apply.
- If any part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we do not give it up.
- You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours to an organisation that takes over the Services, and will tell you if we do.
- These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Services.
